Dee Hensley-Maclean serves on National PTA's Board of Directors and also serves on the National Executive Director Performance Evaluation Committee. She previously chaired the National PTA Nominating and Leadership Recruitment Committee and served as Montana PTA president (2009-2012).
Hensley-Maclean started in PTA as a grassroots local unit leader in 1999 and served in various Montana PTA state board positions from 2004-2016. She has served on several National PTA committees, including Resolutions (2019-2020) and Resource & Development-Field Service (2008), and served as an Endowment Trustee (2012-2013). During 2017-2018, Hensley-Maclean served as a federal peer reviewer of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) state plans under the ESEA.
Hensley-Maclean has extensive experience in Montana education policy, having served as Montana College and Career Readiness Commissioner (2012-2016) and on Montana Negotiated Rulemaking committees for Content Standards for Computer Science, Library Media, Technology Integration Standards, Career and Technology Education, and Social Studies (2020), Student Assessment (2018), and Suicide Prevention and Response (2017-18). She also served on the Montana Chapter 55 Task Force developing amendments to Accreditation and Curriculum (2010-12) and Distance Learning (2006-2008).
Hensley-Maclean lives in Hamilton, Montana with her husband of over 35 years, George, where they raised two children, Meg and Alton.
